Get more use out of your basement with Cellulose Fibre Insulation

Insulation for basements and crawlspaces are usually ignored when it comes to insulation. Although there is a low contribution to heat loss in the basement or crawl space, there are several factors to consider that may help you make the decision to upgrade your basement or crawl space insulation.

With growing families, a basement can be a wonderful cozy space with effective insulation. Reitzel Bros can help by expertly insulating the walls of your basement and crawlspace for year round living and playing.

The Problem

Moisture and Infestation

Basements are notorious for being damp and cold. The cold aspect might be nice as a place to cool down in the summer but the damp thing has to go. Basements and crawl spaces are also great places for insects and rodents to hide out.

Although there is not a significant heat loss, basements have a greater chance of being exposed to high humidity and insulation can be damaged during floods, burst pipes and sewer backups.

The Challenge

Exposed or Closed Walls

If the walls are exposed, insulating the walls with cellulose fibre is relatively quick and easier to do.

With existing walls, it is more difficult. We use a pneumatic blowing equipment, which effectively fills the closed wall cavity with loose fill cellulose fibre insulation.

In both scenarios, if there is existing insulation that needs to be removed, it will need to be tested for dangerous contaminants before proceeding with an insulation upgrade.

Moisture Resistant Cellulose

We use a natural cellulose insulation material that can protect your structure from moisture, mould or mildew damage.

Cellulose fiber insulation slowly absorbs and releases moisture to reduce or prevent condensation. Even better, there is a borate mixture added to the insulation, while harmless to humans, deters insects and rodents, as well as fungus and mold.

Barefoot Comfort

Cellulose fibre’s ability to transport moisture to a surface where it can evaporate is most important in keeping moisture levels low and insulation effectiveness high.

Now you can enjoy living and playing in your basement recreation room with barefoot comfort year round
